The Expedition!

The sunshine was seeping through the clear window glass, it's warmth and glaze stroking my skin. A thousand of thoughts were  scrolling through my head. The room was chaotic amidst the assortment of pupils rehearsing the lines of the Romeo and Juliet, Shakespearean tragedy with muted voices. I was philosophically pondering  over the fact on how a mysterious book , whose existence I had witnessed with my own eyes had vanished. Was I in a supernatural realm? How could a sane person like me imagine something so absurd? Well, my mind was in a conflict whether to let the news out to my friends. Just then I was awoken from my daydreaming from a cracky creepy voice.

"Umm, Chloe do you wish to spend your entire day outside my class?"

"No, Mrs Patson. I...was.... indulging myself in deep thought about the grief-stricken story of Romeo and Juliet."

"I'm happy you know atleast what's being done in class" said Mrs Patson letting out a sigh.

With a sense of triumph, I let out a breath of victory of having dodged the event of getting out of class. No sooner had I thought about it, I guess Mrs Patson was reading my mind.  Demonstratively pointing her hand, with fury in her wrinkled face, she exclaimed," Get out now." I awkwardly grabbed my books and moved out of class wandering in the corridor.

Ahaa I knew it. Rachel crossed my path, looking as shameless as me from being kicked out off class. We exchanged few sneering glances at each other. What's more happier than seeing your best friend in the same situation as you? We, being the jungly hooligans ran around the whole campus laughing , giggling on our stupid lame jokes. We were careful enough not to catch the sight of any teachers. We paced around surreptitiously I realised that when I would grow older, and look back at my prime years all I would remember was those mischievous days. Neither would I remember about all my grades or the number of petty prizes I won.

In the midst of all frivolity, I decided to tell her about the recent series of events that have been troubling me. Then, I thought I had no well-grounded proof to tell whether I was dreaming or I had really seen the luminisce book. My flickering mind told me to shut my mouth and not let out something unreasonably stupid. Probably, Rachel would laugh off at the fact, thinking I was pranking her. We sat in the cafeteria, had a few conversations with the school security guard who was officially our best friend now, drank a litre of coffee and ate a ton of food. We had ways, you know of making the precious use of each second.

Our day passed from dawn to dusk. We had been exhausted. The entire day had been spent within a blink of an eye. The final sun rays was washing off my skin . I was making a conversation with Rachel on the existence of aliens. We were intensely  debating  and making our exit from school when, I felt something heavy in my bag. I zipped it and my head started reeling at the sight of finding the book again. I could no longer keep it to myself. This wasn't something trivial. It wasn't all in my head. I was utterly confused. Should I say Rachel or not?
