~Jade Steven

The dark brown choclatey eyes glared at me, watching me spellbindingly finish a bar of crackers. There were about twenty whining little toddlers and this particular girl had fixed her eyes upon me. I felt peculiar. Was she staring at the crackers I held in my hand or was I too beautiful that she couldn't take her eyes off me. The latter felt impossible so I soon dismissed the thought. I looked around the classroom- warm brown chic benches wherein students had engraved their names upon, grey blackboard coated with minute chalk particles, vivid blue, green turquoise charts taped to the weathered, poorly maintained walls. Mrs Patsy placed her delicate palms on my shoulder and directed me to sit beside that weird kid.  " I am Jade and you?" she whispered. " I'm Chloe" I muttered. She stuffed her mouth with a handful of pomegranate seeds. I think she caught me drooling.  Grinning at me she asked, " You want some?" " Umm okay." She didn't m...

Mudane reality

The eastern sky was still clear, but eventually graying, shot through with streaks of pink and orange. The guilt was creeping all over me as I looked into Rachel's brown eyes. Her resolute pair of eyes were shining brightly and was accompanied by a perfect grin on her face. I barely existed in this world as my mind was lingering in a dubious sphere of conflict within myself. Rachel was anticipating something from me I could tell by the expression on her face. I'd known her for years after all. Squinting at my surroundings, I breathed a sigh of relief as though a weight had been lifted off my shoulders as Eva, just a few paces from us intervened.  "Hey fellas! What you doin'? I heard you got kicked out of school"she chuckled. " Is this the first time we've been thrown out?" Rachel winked. "I mean..you aren't wrong either" said Eva laughing hysterically.  I hadn't laughed, my features were as immobile as stone. The silence between us...

The Expedition!

The sunshine was seeping through the clear window glass, it's warmth and glaze stroking my skin. A thousand of thoughts were  scrolling through my head. The room was chaotic amidst the assortment of pupils rehearsing the lines of the Romeo and Juliet, Shakespearean tragedy with muted voices. I was philosophically pondering  over the fact on how a mysterious book , whose existence I had witnessed with my own eyes had vanished. Was I in a supernatural realm? How could a sane person like me imagine something so absurd? Well, my mind was in a conflict whether to let the news out to my friends. Just then I was awoken from my daydreaming from a cracky creepy voice. "Umm, Chloe do you wish to spend your entire day outside my class?" "No, Mrs Patson. I...was.... indulging myself in deep thought about the grief-stricken story of Romeo and Juliet." "I'm happy you know atleast what's being done in class" said Mrs Patson letting out a sigh. With a sense of...

Missing!

It was a cloudy day. It was unusual for the weather to appear dark and gloomy in the mid of April. The sky was overcast with enormous grey clouds. The wavy peach colored curtains hovered in the air, waving from side to side. I hastened up stuffing my bag with books. It was a normal day for a normal fifteen-year-old teenager like me- carefree young days, reckless and adventurous. I strolled under the omnipresent cloudy shade. My mind always scrolls with questions. How can people be so decisive of what they want to be when they grow up while I struggle to know that fact. Taking decisions is hard for me. This year is the last year of my schooling and yet I do not know what I dream to be. I was awakened from my daydreaming from a bright voice. "Hey why are you late Chloe?" she called out to me. "Umm.. got up late" I answered. She was Rachael, the girl with deep brown eyes, long brown curls flinging about her waist. "Did you complete your homework? O...
